Rose cutting
It's that time of year when we want to gather our rakes and clippers. Spring is just six weeks away. Many gardener's novice and advanced alike are anxious for digging in the earth and trimming back their beloved, reliable roses. The work horse of the garden that blooms all summer long.
But there is a chore that the gardener must do in order to keep a nice rose bush. You will need to cut down the dead buds and foliage for safe keeping. The process that you will want to use is as follows:
1. Be prepared to wear some good gloves that will save your hands from thorns.
2. Gather your shears or clippers from your storage shed.
3. Keep in mind you want to have sharpened tools that you cleaned good in the fall.
It will make the job much more easier.
4. Go to your rose bush and cut down about 3 feet of the bush.
5. It's best to cut down in the spring. But gardener's prefer the fall. It is a personal
preference, I believe.
6. The date you will want to focus on for the completed task is March 15. By this
date, all of your rose bushes should be ready to bloom for June until September.
