It is the beginning of a new month. The month of March is finally here. All the garden magazines and bulb advertisement is all somewhat behind us now.
We can see in the garden now some of the first blooms of the famous forsythia bush. The first of March has given hope for us gardeners to see things growing once again. Our forsythia, deciduous plant returns every year. The delightful, soft blooms will be here for three weeks.
There is also a process one can follow to have premature blooms of the forsythia and as well the flowering plum tree. By cutting a small branch from the plant of the forsythia at the end of January and placing it in water. You can have early blooms setting on the kitchen table. So, then by the end of February you have completed some forcing of the forsythia bloom.
You will want to cut a 12 -18 inch stem for success. Place in a tall container of water for best results. Enjoy your first blooms of the forsythia!
Happy spring...
Look for next weeks topic...
